Foul Pump Application

Application Description & Storm Assessment

The DPS Technical team approached Irish Water and asked if we could provide an assessment and solution for main pump applications in Co. Clare. The main inlet pumps to the treatment plant had been problematic over the previous years. Whilst the existing pumps had been very efficient when installed due to the nature of the number of blockages increased.

DPS Technical Sales assessed the site and decided that the solution was simple; 2 No. KSB Sewabloc D 150-251G V 160M 04 Pumps fitted with KSB’s D Spiral Vane (Screw) Impeller.

The main benefit of the KSB pumps proposed by DPS is that the impeller is both highly efficient and has a superior solids handling capability to other impellars offered by competitors.

The client wanted to be able to transfer 50 l/s pump without the hassle of constantly unblocking the units and do so efficiently. DPS provided that solution.

We are happy to report that the pumps were supplied, installed and commissioned successfully with an enhanced control philosophy, in May 2016 and have operated blockage free ever since. In times of increased flow, the client has the ability to operate the pumps in a Duty/Assist configuration – always achieving the desired outcome. The client is delighted with the outcome of this project and has ensured that they can facilitateboth current and future treatment requirements that may be required.
