DESCRIPTION

We are seeking to recruit a Tendering Engineer from ideally a mechanical or electrical background to join our busy Contracts division based in Bangor, Co Down.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the pre-design and tendering activities on a specific project or multiple projects dependent on size and complexity.

Projects will include municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment plants and various pump and control related project across a number of clients in Northern Ireland and Ireland.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviewing all enquiries and conducting site surveys/ assessments when needed
  • Meeting with Client to discuss their requirements and develop project scopes
  • Ensure that formal risk analysis and mitigation is carried out on appropriate tenders
  • Develop and/or review pre-award design drawings to support both the client visualization of the project and to develop the tender package while also ensuring compliance with specification/ requirements
  • Take part in optioneering and cost development on all projects
  • Develop BOQs for each project including labour, parts and materials
  • Engage with supply chain partners to manage relationships and receive competitive compliant quotations
  • Ensure that technical assessments are completed as required and technical issues are resolved without delay
  • Support the completion and issuing of technical submittals and tender programmes
  • Organise and plan technical meetings with clients and consulting engineers
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritise, organise, and accomplish stated deadlines
  • Ensuring that tenders are completed in accordance with our standard operating procedures and in compliance with our HSQE policies and procedures
  • Ensure all orders received against a tender are properly verified to be in line with the tender package submitted and DPS T&Cs
  • Ensure that all opportunities and quotes are correctly entered into the companies ERP system and that all tender related information is recorded and maintained in the system and/ or network
  • Create tender handover packages and liaise with the Contracts Manager on successful award of projects including supporting on ordering of key parts and materials
  • Support Project Managers on deviations from tender including design reviews, contradictions in specifications and financial implications
  • Attend quality meetings and participate in QA/QC walk downs when required
  • Evaluate the RFI responses to ensure that there are no engineering issues with them
  • On post award review and answer technical queries from the site team in relation to specifications/ drawings/ materials and equipment
  • To perform the job in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures
  • To perform any other duties as may be reasonably be required from time to time

REQUIREMENTS

Skills / Attributes

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar role
  • Third level education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical engineering or Civil engineering degree
  • Similar relevant third level qualification and/or experience will be considered
  • Knowledge of waste water and water applications is highly desirable
  • Must be proficient MS office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to read and understanding engineering drawings
  • Experience in implementing opportunities and initiatives in a time restricted schedule.
  • Working knowledge of conditions of contracts
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and communication skills
  • Strong engineering, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaborative skills with an ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Have a willingness to learn and be challenged in the water and wastewater industry
  • A clean full UK driving licence
