National Championship 2013/2014

About the Award

EPS Group will represent Ireland as National Champion in the 2013/2014 European Business Awards Programme under the Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility category.

EPS, a water and wastewater solutions company, has been chosen by a panel of international judges as one of the best examples of an organisation that puts sustainability at the heart of its operations. EPS was shortlisted alongside 19 other Irish companies including ESB, the Royal College of Surgeons, OSG Group, Nightline Logistics, the Irish Dairy Board and others.

The European Business Awards has identified some of Europe’s brightest businesses based on their ability to demonstrate the three core principles at the heart of the Awards programme. The esteemed panel of judges was looking for organisations to represent Ireland who exhibited the highest levels of innovation, business excellence and sustainability.

526 businesses, out of over 17,000 entries, representing 31 countries, have been chosen as National Champions, progressing through to the second round of the awards. In the next round of the competition, EPS Group will compete to achieve Ruban d’Honneur status. Final category award winners will be unveiled in April 2014.

Welcoming the announcement, Patrick Buckley, Deputy Managing Director of EPS, said

"We are honoured to have been selected to represent Ireland in the European Business Awards. EPS continually strives to develop cleaner technologies and solutions. This award is yet another endorsement of the progress EPS has made in recent years. It is our vision to become the most sustainable company in our industry providing energy efficient and innovative cost saving water solutions globally. We are looking forward to the next stage of the competition and welcome the opportunity to compete against and benchmark ourselves with some of the leading companies in Europe."

Aidan Scollard, partner responsible for the European Business Awards at sponsors RSM Farrell Grant Sparks says,

"It is great to see another impressive list of Irish National Champions for the European Business Awards. With a large representation of seven Irish finalists making it through to the European final 100 last year and one overall winner, I am sure we will yet again have many strong contenders in the various categories from Ireland."

To advance in the competition this year, all National Champions have to submit a video entry for viewing and assessment by a European judging panel. In addition, the public will also be able to vote online for their favourite National Champion from each country. These companies become “National Public Champions” and one will go on to be “European Public Champion”. Voting begins in November 2013.
